Any child through 18 years of age may eat free breakfast at summer school locations through a federal Simplified Summer Food Program, sponsored by the Bellingham School District. Children do not have to be enrolled in summer school or attend a school to get free breakfast.

Free breakfast will be served from 8 - 8:30 a.m. at Sehome and Squalicum High School and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at Birchwood Elementary, Carl Cozier Elementary and Shuksan Middle School, Mondays through Thursdays, July 9-Aug 9.  The locations are as follows: 

  • Birchwood Elementary, 3200 Pinewood Ave.
  • Carl Cozier Elementary, 1330 Lincoln St.
  • Shuksan Middle, 2713 Alderwood Ave.
  • Sehome High, 2700 Bill McDonald Pkwy.
  • Squalicum High, 3773 E McLeod Rd.

A nutrition specialist plans all meals in the district, assuring that the meals meet federal and district fitness and nutrition standards.  Bellingham School District's food services department has received four United State Department of Agriculture Regional Excellence awards for its lunch programs and the Washington Food Policy Action Center Golden Milk Carton Award for its breakfast program.
