Bellingham School District staff members are invited to apply by Feb. 14 to serve on the Districtwide Program Support Committee, which participates in the districtwide budget planning process for the 2008-09 school year.

The Districtwide Program Support Committee recommends budget requests to the District Budget Advisory Committee (DBAC) for various support activities, including Food Service, Transportation, Buildings and Grounds, and Program Support Management (Network Services, Human Resources, Business, etc.).  The Districtwide Program Support Committee needs to demonstrate the extent to which budget requests are tied to district goals and establish measurable objectives that can be achieved through the use of the requested resources.

Committee members serve two-year terms. Applications are being accepted until Feb.14 for these open positions: one school-based administrator and three classified staff members.

Interested staff may complete the Letter of Interest for Participation in Task Forces form for these two open positions at  http://www.bham.wednet.edu/staff/committee.htm and submit it by Feb. 14 to Business & Finance Manager Brett Greenwood, 1306 Dupont Street, Bellingham, WA  98225, 676-6544. The facilitator will review each interested member and propose a group to the Superintendent that is balanced with representation by diverse geographic regions/neighborhoods, student groups or grade levels, background/experiences relative to the task, etc.

Much of the work accomplished in the school district is the result of committees and task forces.  Membership consists of representatives from stakeholder groups. All do specific work at the direction of either the School Board or the Superintendent. The chair or facilitator for all groups is approved by the Superintendent. Major decisions, periodic minutes, and any report or recommendations resulting from the committee and task force work are posted for review on the district's Web site at http://www.bham.wednet.edu/staff/committee.htm
