Student Artists Win Recognition.
 The artwork of  Kevin Clausen, 2nd grade and Eliana Berman, 5th grade, were selected as winners for their respective grade levels in the "Identity" exhibit.  Students were asked to submit works based on the theme of "Who I Am" to be considered as possible selections for the annual District calendar.  Their work will be featured in the calendar for the 2008-09 school year.     Everyone is encouraged to attend the Children's Gallery Walk on May 2 at the Roeder Admin. bldg., where the entries will be displayed.  There will also be a reception with musical performances and refreshments. Congratulations to Kevin and Eliana,
and all others who submitted their artwork in this
city-wide event.

 

Tolliverweb.jpgEarth Day Neighborhood Litter Patrol  Tuesday April 22 is Earth Day, a day specially designated to honor our environment.  Coordinated by the Happy Valley Neighborhood Association led by Wendy Scherrer; students, teachers and parents joined in a Happy Valley Neighborhood School Litter Pick-up activity.  Planning was done in conjunction with the City of Bellingham Public Works Department, and the Food Pavilion.  Seven different classrooms participated in the activity, which included instruction in recycling, sorting and proper methods and materials used in appropriate and safe litter control.   Parent volunteers also accompanied the groups to their designated areas in and around the Happy Valley area. 
Water and snacks provided by The Food Pavilion.

If anyone would like an opportunity to contribute to the clean-up effort, you may join others in a Neighbors Litter Pick-up this Saturday, April 26.  Meet at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church between 10am-2pm at the corner of Harris and 18th.
