After considering many options and gathering input, Bellingham School District staff have developed a plan to fund middle and high school activity/athletic programs for the 2009-10 school year.

The adopted Budget Savings Plan (see items 58 and 40B) contains budget savings items related to increasing transportation fees for high school activities/athletics and making middle school activities/athletics self-supporting by charging fees.

Several school staff, including coaches, students and community members who expressed concern earlier this spring about sustaining middle and high school athletics provided input on the plan, which was approved by the School Board at the June 11 meeting. 

Participation fees will be on a sliding scale based on a family's income qualifications for free/reduced meals. Please click here for information about program options  and approved fees for 6th grade, 7th/8th grade and high school.
