Enrollment materials are now ready for registering prospective new Kindergarten students for 2010-2011.  All elementary schools in the Bellingham School District will offer a kindergarten program with
registration beginning Tuesday March 2.  For the regular, half-time Kindergarten program, the district is considering a full-day, every
other day schedule.  The decision regarding the schedule for regular Kindergarten will be made by March 1 in order to allow  families and the district time to plan.  The full-day/every day schedule (instead of  half-day)is more effective for the High Scope instructional method.  It also reduces the district's transportation costs and saves other resources.  There is no cost to families for regular Kindergarten.  For families that prefer a full-day, every day Kindergarten schedule, this option will be offered at Alderwood, Carl Cozier, Happy Valley, Lowell, Northern Heights, Parkview, Roosevelt, Silver Beach and Wade King elementary schools on a space-available basis with tuition.  Please visit http://bellinghamschools.org/kindergarten-information for details or contact our school for more information.   

KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE MARCH 16
              
We will also host a Kindergarten Open House on Tuesday March 16 from 4:00-5:30 pm.  All prospective Kindergarten students and their parents are invited to attend.  Families will have opportunities to visit all three classrooms, meet teachers, tour the school and grounds, meet the principal, participate in a few activities and ask questions. 
 

Friday 2/26    

8:30-9:00 AM    Last chance to bring displays to the gym

6:00 PM                Families and friends  may begin viewing displays

 7:00 PM               Student recognition ceremony in the cafeteria

This year we will be welcoming guests from the community; including the President of Western Washington University and his wife,  a number of WWU science education professors and school board members. We have a record number of entries this year and are expecting a large crowd so we are asking that parents supervise their children at all times, and keep them with you while seated in the cafeteria for the recognition ceremony. We will set up as many chairs as we can but there will likely not be enough for everyone.  This part of the program should not last longer than 30 minutes.Thank you for helping to keep us as organized as possible.

There will be a bake sale during the event to benefit the upcoming 5th grade classes Mountain School for next fall. (both Lowell and Happy Valley students).  If you able to bring some baked goodies to contribute, please leave them at school on Friday.  It would be great if items could be individually bagged to sell at .50 or $1.00.  There will be bake sale goodies and popcorn available.  Please let Tonya Lockman (tonyalockman@hotmail.com) or Samantha Faris (sfaris@comcast.net) know if you are able to bring a bake sale contribution.
