All Bellingham School District parents are invited to a drug and gang awareness presentation at 7 p.m. April 15 at Bellingham High School. The event, sponsored by Bellingham High School’s Parent Teacher Association, will feature two officers, Trooper Jason Knott and Trooper Scott Betts.
Knott, a narcotics K-9 officer with the Washington State Patrol, will provide a PowerPoint presentation on signs to look for regarding the identification of drugs and how they could potentially be hidden. The second speaker, Betts, is a drug recognition expert with the Washington State Patrol. He will discuss the short- and long-term physical symptoms that a parent may be able to identify when a child has ingested drugs. Gang awareness information will also be shared by the Bellingham Police Department. All of the presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
For more information, please contact Sgt. Jason Armstrong at (360) 676-2076.
