Dear Families, As we plan ahead to the 2010-11 school year there have been a variety of activities planned that will support staff, students and families as we return to two schools of Happy Valley and Lowell. I appreciate that our PTAs, combined site council and staffs have partnered to create a smooth transition for everyone. Here are some of the end of the year activities that are being planned with this in mind.
For our students: • Each class will have a discussion about students attending Lowell and Happy Valley next year. Every class will create a memory banner that will remind students of the fun events and the learning that happened during the school year. • We will have a slide show during the last week of school that will celebrate the year and help all of us to look ahead to next year.
For our families • The annual Sock Hop has been moved from May to June 9th to allow families an opportunity to come together and have a lot of fun hula hooping, eating pizza, dancing and enjoying several outdoor activities. • Our yearly all school BBQ will be on June 11th during your child’s lunchtime. I hope you will join us as we celebrate the year with another opportunity to connect with friend and family.
For the Staff • The combined Happy Valley and Lowell staffs are planning how we might continue to combine professional development opportunities. We are also considering possibilities for keeping Lowell and Happy Valley students connected into next year. It has been a busy and exciting two years, I know I have said it often but there is no doubt that we have learned a lot from each other. I will truly miss those who are moving on to Lowell. You have all been an important part of our lives and I am taking many wonderful memories away. To the Lowell families, students and staff, I am sending good wishes as you begin planning for the future. To those who will remain at Happy Valley, as we look forward to next year as we continue to provide students with a program of academic excellence for all students, we will continue a partnership with community and families and continue to have opportunities for enrichment activities all which have become the hallmark of Happy Valley.
More information will be coming soon regarding a date and time for the back to school Meet and Greet.

Sock Hop Tomorrow Night
Don’t forget, the Sock Hop is Wednesday from 5:30-8:00! Dance and hula hoop to The Atlantics in the gym, play games on the field (weather permitting), have fun at the cake walk in the covered area, and in the cafeteria there will be the Sweet Shop and Pizza Dinner! If you’ve pre-ordered dinner, your dinner tickets will be available outside the cafeteria or at the front entrance. You may still purchase dinner at the event for $5.50. Dig out those poodle skirts, roll up your jeans and find the saddle shoes and penny loafers from the back of the closet.
WE ALWAYS HAVE A TERRIFIC TURNOUT AND NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF EVENT.
In order to manage the numbers and keep things running as smoothly as possible, all children, including siblings, older or younger, need to be supervised by an adult at all times. Parking: the cement playground area behind the school will be made available for additional parking.
