    Bellingham school bus driver Mark Miller, 30, placed first in the 40th Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition, a first-time win for Bellingham. The event is one of the most important in the transportation industry, with the best school bus drivers in the U.S. and Canada competing for top honors.


  • School Board Seeks Input While Considering Temporary Supplemental Levy for District Voters to Decide
    The Bellingham School Board has been exploring the possibility of asking voters to consider a temporary supplemental levy on this November’s ballot. The School Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 in the Board Room, followed by a meeting to take action on a resolution. The Board is interested in public feedback before taking action.

  • Summer Hours and School Registration for Fall
    Elementary and middle school offices are closed for the summer beginning Friday, June 25. Elementary and middle school offices reopen to the public from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 23. Options High School reopens to the public from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 23.


  • Summer School
    The Bellingham School District will offer a summer school program for high school students who need to make up credits and for pre-qualifying students from Alderwood, Birchwood, Roosevelt and Sunnyland elementary schools.


  • Free Breakfast or Lunch for Children at Some School Locations
    Any child through 18 years of age may eat free breakfast or lunch at summer school locations through a federal Simplified Summer Food Program, sponsored by the Bellingham School District. Children do not have to be enrolled in summer school or attend a school to get free breakfast or lunch.


  • Cordata Selected as Name of Future Northside Elementary School
    Cordata Elementary School is the new name of the Bellingham School District's future northside elementary school on Aldrich Road.


  • Michelle Kuss-Cybula Named as Fairhaven Principal
    Michelle Kuss-Cybula was named at the June 10 Bellingham School District Board meeting as the new principal of Fairhaven Middle School, effective July 1.
