  • Changes to Current School Year Calendar due to Make-Up Days from Inclement Weather
    Bellingham School District families and staff should make the following changes on their calendars for the remainder of this year:


  • District, Association Working on 2009-11 School Year Calendars
    The Bellingham School District is currently working with the Bellingham Education Association (BEA) to develop the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school year calendars. The School Board will approve the final 2009-11 school year calendars in early 2009 and the information will be distributed at that time.


  • EPA Honors District for Exemplary Indoor Air Quality Program
    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2008 Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools (IAQ TfS) has honored the Bellingham School District with the Model of Sustained Excellence Award with for its exemplary efforts to improve indoor air quality for students and staff.


  • High School Student Musicians Earn Honors
    In the first several weeks of school, band programs in the Bellingham School District have already claimed a multitude of achievements.


  • District Students, Staff Earn Honors
    Bellingham School District students and staff from Alderwood, Birchwood, Geneva, Larrabee, Parkview, Sunnyland and Roosevelt elementary schools, and Bellingham, Sehome and Squalicum high schools recently won the following awards:


  • District Celebrates 2008 Advanced Placement Student Scholars
    Eighty graduates and 30 current students from Bellingham, Sehome and Squalicum high schools have earned the College Board distinction as AP Scholars in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams given in spring 2008.


  • Bellingham School District Honored for Technology Innovation
    The Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association have selected the Bellingham School District Board of Directors as a 2008 Digital School Boards Survey winner, ranking Bellingham second nationally of school districts of similar size.


  • District Students, Staff Receive Honors
    The following Bellingham School District students and staff received national, regional and state recognition recently.


  • Bellingham High School Named 2008 School of Distinction
    Bellingham High School was named a 2008 "School of Distinction" today by the state's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. The State Superintendent's Learning Improvement Award was created in 2007 to recognize academic gains of students, teachers and the school community.


  • Bellingham High School Participates in 'Food to Flowers' Program
    Bellingham High School is the first high school in the district to implement the "Food to Flowers" program as of Sept. 30. "Food to Flowers" is a food waste recycling program. Leftover food, fruits, milk cartons, napkins and non-plastic containers are recycled in the school cafeteria.
