  Three Bellingham School District Educators Selected by Alcoa for Summer Keystone Center
  Thanks to Ferndale's Alcoa Intalco Works, three Bellingham School District educators have been selected to receive summer training at a national institute designed to provide classroom lessons focused on local environmental issues.

  Sunnyland Student is One of Top Braillists in Country
  Tabitha Smith, a fourth grader at Sunnyland Elementary School, is one of 60 finalists attending the 2009 Braille Challenge on June 20 in Los Angeles.

  Bellingham Launches New Summer School Virtual Online Program for High School Students
  High school students are encouraged to register now for a new Bellingham Virtual Learning online summer school program that provides instructor-led courses from June 22 through Aug. 7.

  Few Spaces Remain for Full-Day Kindergarten with Fall Registration Continuing for All Grades
  All Bellingham Public Schools are now enrolling for fall. Please contact our schools to learn more about program offerings, events to welcome new students and families, tour schedules and opportunities to meet school leaders. Only a few spaces remain for full-day kindergarten at Alderwood, Carl Cozier, Happy Valley and Roosevelt elementary schools with a half-day kindergarten program offered at all schools.

  District Students Receive State Honors for Music and Sustainability
  Students from Happy Valley elementary school and Bellingham, Sehome and Squalicum high schools recently received state honors for musical performances. Columbia Elementary School won a sustainable school award.

  School Board, Staff Honor District's Graduating Senior Stars
  The Bellingham School District Board of Directors will honor 32 graduating seniors from all four high schools May 21 for their outstanding achievements and contributions to their school communities. Each high school set specific criteria and selected its own 2009 Districtwide Graduating Senior Stars.

  Budget, Staffing and Enrollment Update
  Implementation of the Bellingham School District's Budget Savings Plan continues with reductions in nonemployee-related costs, administration and districtwide savings, helping to reduce some of the overall impact of the state Legislature's budget on our classrooms and staffing.

  District Reminds Families of Early Releases Next Week, June Dates
  All Bellingham schools are operating on an early release schedule for Monday, May 18. Additionally, district high schools will have an early release at 10:30 a.m. on May 19.
