  • Downed Tree, Power Line Block Some Bus Routes
    Due to a tree blocking the road, the Bellingham School District is unable to provide bus transportation on Tuesday, Nov. 17 for buses that travel on Northshore Drive beyond Agate Heights. Families living in this area will need to use alternative routes, if possible, to get their children to school today. Also, bus service will be delayed approximately 20 minutes for students living in Sudden Valley due to a downed power line that requires rerouting.


  • District Students, Staff, Parents and Alumni Earn Honors
    Students from Alderwood, Birchwood, Roosevelt and Sunnyland elementary schools, Columbia Elementary School and the Columbia Parent Association, Sehome High School musicians, high school Advanced Placement (AP) students and graduates, and the district's transportation department earned national, state and local honors recently.


  • Schools, District Office Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
    All Bellingham School District schools and the district office will close to the public for the Thanksgiving holiday following the early release of students from school on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and remain closed until Monday, Nov. 30.


  • Parent-Teacher Conferences for Elementary and Middle Schools
    Parent-teacher conferences with an early release of students begin Wednesday, Nov. 18 and continue through Wednesday, Nov. 25 for elementary and middle schools in the Bellingham School District. In addition, high schools will release early on Friday, Nov. 20 and Wednesday, Nov. 25.


  • School Board Accepts Recommendation for Superintendent Search
    At the Nov. 12 meeting, the Bellingham School District Board of Directors accepted a recommendation prepared by an outside consultant to conduct a state-focused superintendent search.

    Thank you to all of the Whatcom Middle School families who attended last night's informational meeting. This is a reminder about the information shared at the meeting.


  • No School for All Students on Veterans Day, Nov. 11
    In honor of the Veterans Day holiday, there is no school for all Bellingham School District students on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The district office and all schools are closed to the public.


  • Whatcom PTSA and Whatcom Community Foundation Coordinate Support For Students and Staff
    The Whatcom Middle School PTSA and the Whatcom Community Foundation are now offering ways to help Whatcom students, parents, faculty and staff impacted by the fire.


  • Update for Whatcom Families: Relocation Plan and Parent Meeting
    Since Thursday's early morning fire at Whatcom Middle School, Bellingham School District staff worked collaboratively to develop a relocation plan for Whatcom students to begin school again on Thursday, Nov. 12 using the following criteria.
